The Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) is a refundable tax credit that boosts the income of low- and modest-income workers.

If you qualify, you can receive part of it in advance during the year and the rest after you file your tax return.

In 2026, the advance portion is called the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB) and is paid on three fixed dates.

Canada Workers Benefit Advance Payment Dates for 2026

According to the Government of Canada’s 2026 benefit payment calendar, Advanced Canada Workers Benefit payments are issued on these dates:

  • January 12, 2026

  • July 10, 2026

  • October 9, 2026

These advance payments are based on your previous tax return and usually represent up to 50% of your total CWB entitlement, with the rest settled after you file your 2025 return in 2026.

How to Make Sure You Get the Payments

To receive CWB and its advance payments, you must:

  • File your tax return every year, even with low income

  • Have the CRA determine that you’re eligible for CWB

  • File your return before November 1 of the benefit period to get advance payments

The CRA will automatically calculate your CWB and send advance payments if you qualify—no separate application is needed.

*While Direct Deposits are typically received and processed the evening before your scheduled payday, the actual timing may vary depending on when the payment is issued. Please allow up to 2 business days for complete processing.
